Frankfurt - City of Cultures and Religions
No university in Germany is located in a city more naturally
conducive to Religion in Dialogue than the University of
Frankfurt-on-Main.
Long before the University of Frankfurt was founded, the city
already enjoyed a long-established tradition of openness and tolerance
towards foreign visitors, having been a trade fair centre for
centuries. Frankfurt today has lost none of that cosmopolitan vitality,
as demonstrated for instance by the International Book Fair held here
every year. Almost one in three residents of Frankfurt originates from
outside of Germany. Cultures, traditions and religions co-exist in a
distinctly amicable spirit that can only be described as exemplary.
Religion in Dialogue both draws inspiration from that multicultural
setting, and helps nurture it.
Since Frankfurt-on-Main (along with Leipzig) is home to the
German Library, its research facilities can accurately be described as
second to none anywhere in Germany.
For anyone contemplating a visit to Frankfurt, travel to and
from the city need be the least of their concerns. Frankfurt Airport is
Germany's busiest, offering national and international connections to
and from just about anywhere.
And last but not least, no one considering a longer stay in
Frankfurt need fear the anonymity of the big city. Frankfurt, though a
highly international and metropolitan centre, remains neatly sized,
with 650,000 inhabitants. This is a city where one can quickly feel at
home. In organising the programme of extra-curricular activities and
events, your project coordinator is personally committed to helping you
make the most of your stay in Frankfurt.
